Obituary


Lilian Lane was born Lilian Osborn on December 31st, 1917 in St. Mary Cray, Dartford, England. She started school at the age of 5 and completed her education at the age of 14. During her childhood years she went strawberry picking with her mum, she would pick all the nicest berries and eat them right away, it was the same with raspberries and gooseberries.

At age 15, she worked at a private hotel in Hamstead as a dish washer, at age 16, she worked for a private residence until she was 22, assisting...

Lilian Lane was born Lilian Osborn on December 31st, 1917 in St. Mary Cray, Dartford, England. She started school at the age of 5 and completed her education at the age of 14. During her childhood years she went strawberry picking with her mum, she would pick all the nicest berries and eat them right away, it was the same with raspberries and gooseberries.

At age 15, she worked at a private hotel in Hamstead as a dish washer, at age 16, she worked for a private residence until she was 22, assisting the butler and maid with their daily duties. When the war started in September of 39, she went to work as a bus conductor, running up and down the aisle collecting the bus fare. At age 25 (March 7th, 1942) she was married to Ronald Lane in Dartford, Kent.

Ron, Lilian, Colin, & Susie immigrated to Canada in 1951, 1st to Edmonton and next to Alberta. In 1956 they again immigrated to the US, landing in Costa Mesa, CA where she spent the rest of her days, raising her children, working (and retired) with Sears, she enjoyed reading novels, playing card games on the computer, working crossword puzzles, and knitting, (sweaters, Christmas stockings, blankets etc). Her true passion was reading.

She is survived by her son Colin and wife Carol, daughter Susie and husband Gary, grandchildren Wendy, Annette and Angela, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
